Team Rockstar Teka Suzuki Set For May 30th

April 19, 2010 – Glen Helen Raceway, CA – Fresh off a moto win at the Grand Prix of Lombardia, Team Rockstar Teka Suzuki World MX1 has confirmed they will be bringing racers Clement Desalle and Steve Ramon to Southern California to compete at the USGP at Glen Helen on May 30th. Headed by legendary Belgian racer Eric Geboers, Team Suzuki is celebrating 50 years of racing heritage in 2010 and having an American-based sponsor makes this event doubly important.

“We have just entered into a very important partnership with Rockstar Energy Drink and having a race in the U.S. is just perfect,” explains Geboers. Nicknamed “The Kid” during his own racing days, Geboers gained fame as the first man to win championships in the 125cc, 250cc and 500cc classes. Motocross legend David Bailey teams up with Youthstream for USGP at Glen Helen

April 16, 2010 – Glen Helen Raceway, CA – In preparation for the United States Grand Prix at Glen Helen, set to take place on May 30 weekend, series promoter Youthstream and motocross legend David Bailey have reached an agreement which will see the 2-time USGP winner play an active role in the event.

Bailey won at Unadilla in 1983 (250cc) and at Carlsbad in 1985 (500cc). He now enjoys a successful career as a TV commentator and he will be involved in promoting the USGP at Glen Helen and providing color commentary on the television broadcast along with Youthstream TV Commentator Paul Malin, a former GP winner himself. Since an injury-enforced retirement from professional motocross in the 1990s, he has remained involved as a trainer, promoter and business owner, however he says he remains a fan, first and foremost! NEW TRACK FOR WORLD TWO-STROKE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS WEEKEND!

IT WILL USE PORTIONS OF THE UPCOMING USGP CIRCUIT ~ LOTS OF NEW STUFF AND SOME SURPRISES!

With the World Two-Stroke Championship scheduled for this Sunday, Glen Helen has been busy working on track designs for this weekend’s race, the May 16th $25,000 National warm-up race and the May 30th USGP (not to mention the weekly Thursday practices). The turn around the “twin trees” has been widen in both directions for Thursday. This should allow two lines in and two lines around the left that leads to the front straight. Two-Stroke riders will go to the top of Mt. Saint Helen (and face a surprise at the bottom).

The Log Cabin jump has been put back into the track, which means that Talladega will be used on every lap.

The second turn (after Talladega) no longer goes straight, but turns 240-degrees and goes over a tabletop before turning left to go up Shoei Hill. Read the rest of this entry »
