Team MCR/Maxxis Rides Razrs to WORCS Success

October 4th, 2010

With Beau Baron and Josh Row in second and third places for the Pro class, Davi Haagsma locking up the Pro Am championship and Julie Russell a sure bet for the Women A title, the members of Team MCR have been an unqualified success in this year’s WORCS series.

At press time, Baron had taken three victories and three second place spots, while Row had landed on the podium twice. Haagsma has taken four straight wins and five victories in all. Russell has taken six straight wins in seven races, and was on the podium for the first race.

Team manager and pro racer Mike Cafro, currently sixth in points, said the season’s results are in line with his expectations: “Yes, I think so. Davi was kind of a shoo-in for the championship, and Julie should lock up her championship in the next race. Where Josh is sitting right now is pretty good, and as far as Beau goes, we’re really happy with that as well.”

Cafro says that Maxxis has been instrumental in the team’s success, through both its products and its support. “Maxxis is probably our biggest contributor to the race team, so without them, we wouldn’t even be doing it,” he said. “We have good relationships with our other sponsors as well. All the equipment we use is the best in the industry, and not only just the equipment, but the relationships that we have. Razrs are the best tire out there. We run a combination between the Razr 2 front and the Razr rear. They’re probably the toughest and most durable tires out there. We play a little with the air pressure, but that’s about it.”

The series’ summer break doesn’t add up to downtime for the MCR crew. “The break is not really a break at all. We’re using it for testing and racing the QuadCross series. We’re also revamping all the vehicles, so for us there’s no break. Even when the season ends, the new one starts right away – so we have to prepare this year for next year as well,” said Cafro.

Like every fan of Team MCR, Maxxis is eager to watch this winning line-up dominate the rest of the season.
