Twenty-Four of the World’s Top Motocross Riders to Compete in Head-to-Head, Straight Line Motocross event

Santa Monica, Calif. (Septe

mber 23, 2015) – The full list of competitors for Red Bull Straight Rhythm has been announced, and once again it includes some of the best riders in the world. Last year’s champion James Stewart will lead the Open Class, which will also include Ryan Dungey, Ken Roczen, Justin Brayton, Marvin Musquin and Andrew Short, among others. The field will be split into two classes – 16 riders in the Open Class (greater than 250cc) and eight riders in the Lites Class (250cc or less). The head-to-head, best-of-three racing will take place at the former horse track at Fairplex in Pomona on Saturday, October 10. The 24 riders will race on a 1Ž2-mile rhythm section with no turns, which features 75 jumps and over 400 feet of whoops. General admission tickets are available for $30 and VIP tickets are $150 at www.redbull.com/straightrhythm

James Stewart’s participation in the event will mark his return to professional racing – his last race was Red Bull Straight Rhythm in 2014, which he won. After a year off, he’ll look to come back with a bang and defend his title at the head-to-head event. This year’s AMA Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey will look to keep his winning streak going on the 1Ž2 mile, straight track. Dungey participated in the concept “test” in 2013, and has been a very vocal supporter of the format ever since. Unable to race in last year’s event, he’ll now see how he takes to the extensive rhythm section in a fully competitive format. Justin Brayton will return to try and improve on his second place finish last year, and Marvin Musquin, who dominated the Lites Class in 2014, will move up to the Open Class. Riders new to this unique format will include Ken Roczen, Andrew Short and holeshot specialist Mike Alessi.

The Lites Class will feature a 10-rider qualifier on Friday, with only eight riders advancing to race on Saturday. Of the 10-rider field, eight were invited to participate, including Jessy Nelson, Malcolm Stewart and Shane McElrath. The remaining two riders will earn their spots in a pre-qualifier race at Pala Raceway on October 4, which is open to all pro-license riders.
