Roll Design Beau Baron wins the Taft Big 6 GP

February 10th, 2011

Roll Design 2011 LogoFallbrook CA 2/9/2011 – Beau Baron (#549) Roll Design/Elka/MCR wins the ATV Expert Class at the opening round of the Big 6 GP held in Taft, California.

The opening round of the Big 6 hosted at the Honolulu Hills MX course in Taft California was not all that unfamiliar with Beau Baron as he had just completed the opening round of the WORCS series which shared this very same track just 2 weeks earlier. However Beau took on a dual role at the Big 6 not only running the Quad Expert class on his Roll Design/Elka/MCR Honda TRX450R quad, but also running the Team race on Saturday on his dirtbike. Beau is no stranger to racing dirt bikes and it was during his time on 2 wheels that he determined he could get around the track pretty fast on 4, after borrowing a friend’s quad to race in 2007. He won the 2009 WORCS Championship only 2 years later with the support of Mike Cafro and his Team MCR.

Early Saturday morning Beau mounted his dirtbike for the Unclassified event so he could get a good look at the track before the Quad Expert ATV race, starting later in the afternoon.

Beau’s Roll Design/Elka/MCR Honda TRX450R got him into a good starting spot where he quickly got into the lead. He was only challenged by fellow WORCS racer and 2010 AMA ATV National MX champion Josh Creamer throughout the race. The two changed positions a couple of times with Josh Creamer looking to hold off Beau, but the Roll Design/Elka/MCR setup keep Beau close enough to make a final pass giving him the advantage and taking home the #1 for the Quad Expert class.

“He passed me for the final time, I got him back in the exact same corner the next lap and took the win” – Said Beau.

In the afternoon, Beau remounted on his dirtbike for the Team Race with 1996 San Diego Supercross Winner (125 class) and 2006 AMA Regional Arenacross Champion Jeff Willoh.

“Willoh hadn’t raced anything earlier in the day so his first lap around the track during the Team race was his first time even seeing the track. Considering that, we did alright.” – Beau Baron

The team ended up 9th right behind JCR’s Johnny Campbell and Colton Udall with 44 teams competing in the Team race.
